Our Mission
Our mission is to encourage positive communication and establish effective relationships between the San Tan Valley Library and local citizens; to advocate and represent the library through engaging community outreach in order to encourage, support and promote the importance of child and adult literacy in our community.
Friends of the San Tan Valley Library is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
We hold monthly meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of each month in the Bronze Room, which is across from the library in the Pinal Administrative Building. Meeting times are from 2 pm - 3 pm.
All members and volunteers are welcome to attend and participate. We are happy to welcome new faces and new ideas!
The Friends are such an integral part of the San Tan Valley Library. Their members are a constant presence; whether running a program, stocking the Bookstore shelves, or simply picking up a new read. The support provided by these awesome individuals is invaluable to the Library…they are a true asset to us.
Membership
Join the Friends and make a difference in your community. Become a member by donating $10, which is tax deductible. You will then become a Friends “Next Chapter“ Member. Friends of the San Tan Valley Library is organized and ran by our dedicated community volunteers.
As a Member:

Book Sales and Honesty Shelf
Friends of the San Tan Valley Library hosts special events throughout the year. One of the most important events we hold is our Friends Book Sale.
Book Sales are one of our main sources of fundraising and one of the most popular events we hold for the community. Residents are able to purchase inexpensive used books at each sale. Prices are very reasonable for all types of books in many genres including hard-backs, paper-backs, children’s books and more.
All proceeds from the sales directly benefit and fund programs, supplies and community outreach events for our library.
Book sales and the Honesty Shelf is located near the entrance to the library with clear signage indicating pricing and sales.
Payment for the books on the Honesty Shelf is on an honor system and donations are placed in the Honesty Box. Or patrons can scan the QR code and send payment directly to the Friends via their smart phone.

Donate your gently used books to the Friends! We will gratefully accept used books in good to excellent condition. Your donation will help us fill shelves at our Book Sales and will also make a difference in the life of a reader here in our community.
You may donate your gently used books at the San Tan Valley Library during regular business hours. Just bring your bagged or boxed books and drop off with library staff at the Front Desk.

Snapshots of Support
Throughout the year, we have many programs where the Friends' contributions through donations of prizes, gift cards and supplies allow the library budget to focus on more fundamental items. Our programs continue to grow and this is in direct correlation to the solid commitment to our success provided by the Friends of the San Tan Valley Library.
Summer Reading Program
The San Tan Valley Library has a vibrant and growing Summer Reading Program each June and July. For six weeks, we provide daily programs for the community ranging from story time to arts and crafts…from visits by theater groups to nighttime Sky Parties…there is truly something for everyone. In order to pull this off, we rely on the monetary and physical donations of the Friends of the San Tan Valley Library. They solicit donations of prizes and awards for our patrons who complete the Reading Challenge. They staff the registration table during our ramp-up week. They provide funding to bring in exciting extras for our programs (like a Sno-Cone truck for our finale!). Most importantly, they show up. If we need extra coverage for a large event, we know that these wonderful folks will step up (and might even bring their families) to assist.
Library Holiday Party
Each December, the Library hosts a Holiday Party for over 200 patron families. This event is always a blast to plan and run and is seen by the staff as a way of saying “thank you” to the wonderful people who visit our library each year. The Friends have always stood with us and provided funds to make this a truly wonderful event…ensuring that kids can visit with Santa and leave with a treat or two… As always, they can be counted on to provide staffing assistance and support to our Library personnel.
